Pilgrimages were great journeys, often taking months or years to complete.  Stops along the way provided rest, hospitality, and comfort to travelers.  Thankfully, our Battlemoor pilgrimage will be shorter but may still require rest on your travels due to the heat, high altitude, mobility issues, and maybe the need to sit a spell after a night of revelry. 

To that end, we challenge each Barony, Shire, and Household of the Mighty Kingdom of the Outlands to prepare a respite for weary travelers passing by your camp.  For encouragement, we will be sponsoring a contest for the best bench presentation.

There will be two categories for competing – group and individual. If you are interested in being a judge for this contest, please use the entry form and select judge as type of entry.

Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Functionality: benches must hold a minimum of 2 adults (42-60” long) and must break down
Aesthetics: appropriate, period-look
Bonus for added amenities related to hospitality and comfort

Groups and individuals are responsible for transportation, set-up, and tear-down of their benches. They are yours to keep after the event.

Group:
Each camp is asked to provide a bench in front of your camping area where people may rest while traveling past.  The best camp bench will be awarded a plaque with the group name and year and bragging rights for the year. The plaque will be returned the following year to be passed on to next year’s winner. 

Individuals:
Individuals who wish to compete in their own right may provide a bench for a common area (list below) or for a camp.  Locations will be assigned on a first come, first assigned basis; so if you have a site in mind you’d like to place your bench, send in your entry request early.  Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners in the individual category.

Depending on the number of entrants, additional common area sites may be added.  If you would like to enter more than one bench, please fill out an entry for each bench.
