The Battlemoor staff is committed to helping make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. The Watch helps make this possible.
You’ll find The Watch at Gate. If the Gate staff has left for the night, they’ll help you find your camp and let you know when you can come back in the morning to finish your registration. Though we will patrol Town Hall, Merchants Row, and all other areas, please remember theft liability is still your own. Battlemoor is not responsible for theft or damage to personal property.
We ask that you read and follow the Site Rules and treat each other with respect. Have fun, but not at the expense of others.
We will store Lost and Found items during the event at gate.
Obviously all local, state and federal laws, as well as the guidelines of the SCA are applicable at all times.
May the blessings of a renewed spirit and dedication to once again “cast aside our mundane cares and woes” and gather in celebration as a Kingdom this summer at Battlemoor.
Sir Daveed Shmuel ben Rachon bids all who are reading these words…Shalom.
It has been a while since we have been together at Battlemoor. The world has been changed since 2019 and we are changing with it. I am tasked with organizing The Watch for this year. From the time the gate opens on Tuesday, June 27 until Sunday, July 2 when the event closes The Watch will be providing 24 hrs a day security, escorting assistance, and other support as needed.
The only way such efforts can be successful if there is sufficient people power to cover all of the required shifts. With a goal of six security shifts per two-hour block that equates to 366 separate shifts that need to be filled, and this does not include supervisors. My desire is to have Baronies and other groups take on filling the night shifts, with members of all fighting peerages, fighting award bearers, squires, men-at-arms, and others to complete the rest of the shifts.
All shifts are scheduled in two-hours blocks. Sign up for one or more. Encourage your friends and family to share in these vital duties. To sign-up for The Watch, please click on the link below.
Should there be questions, suggestions, or even to express concerns and/or other security needs, please contact me via email at [email protected].
One last item for your consideration: not everyone is suited or drawn to volunteering for The Watch., like the rest of the SCA, Battlemoor is an all-volunteer event. Its success or failure rests with all who volunteer to make it happen. There are many other areas and activities that will require people to volunteer for so things run smoothly and that no one person has to shoulder over-burdening responsibilities.
My dear friends, please take what I have written here to heart. Volunteer your time so that all may enjoy.
As we gather, may our commitment to the Dream guide our choices and our actions.
L’hitraot…
Daveed Shmuel ben Rachon KSCA, OL
